| The SearchIndexer.exe process is an executable file of the desktop search service from Microsoft. The process once was improved in vista to a great degree. But users found that the windows explorer hangs many times because of the improved SearchIndexer.exe process. This process may uses a considerable amount of CPU usage, but it is indeed safe and is not spyware or virus related. |

| SearchIndexer.exe the process is charge of exploring the contents of the hard drive to facilitate the search for a file on it. However, this service can be a little heavy on resources (CPU, RAM, hard disk access) and can significantly slow down your computer. This is reflected mostly by a hard disk which is constant noise, even when the computer is not requested and a system that is slow to respond. If you want to solve its CPU problem, you can permanently disable windows search in vista. | |||

| I tried to Stop it and errors kept popping up and they wouldn't stop popping up, so i wouldn't delete it if i were you. | |||

| Just the indexer for the search function on the program bar of Windows 7. Without it searches will take a long time. If you almost never use search then disable search itself in the control panel from windows components and this will go away for good. Your choice really. More information | |||

| It takes a lot of memory and windows search isn't all that great anyway.You can disable it in Services.I use an app called everything and it will show anything and everything on your PC Instantly. | |||
