| The file is located in the folder C:\\Program Files\\Windows Media Player\\ and belongs to Windows Media Player. It is used to share Windows Media Player libraries. Get more detailed information about wmpnscfg.exe and all other running background processes with Security Task Manager. Note: Any malware can be named anything - so you should check where the files of the running processes are located on your disk. If a "non-Microsoft" .exe file is located in the C:\\Windows or C:\\Windows\\System32 folder, then there is a high risk for a virus, spyware, trojan or worm infection! | |||

| I use my Xbox 360 to access music/videos on my laptop so I leave this on. What is irritating though is that this, along with "wmpnetwk.exe" prevents you from safely removing hardware (such as USB sticks, external hard drives etc.). So, you have to first remove "wmpnscfg.exe" and "wmpnetwk.exe" if you want to use the safely remove hardware option... because of this, I just pull the external hardware out without the safely removing it because I can't be arsed to go into process manager/task manager to end the two aforementioned processes! They also reappear shortly after being ended. I guess you can remedy this by switching off sharing when it's not needed but I can't be arsed to do that either - I just want to get on with my day! | |||

| Well why the hell would I want to trapse all over the internet with my sharing tail hanging out all over the place if I was not gonna be sharing with everybody on purpose. And as usual Uncle billy and bros has set it to be on by default. Yay, nah not yay, HEY Mutton heads. Microsoft thinks we are all such dopes it is just best to start all the services up and let us shut them down as we grow and mature as PC Users | |||
