I Disable this feature on my laptop because I mainly have it connected to a large flat screen tv, sits on the table and never goes anywere so there is no risk of dropping the unit or damaging the drive.

This can save your laptop hard drive from damage. Senses unexpected drops and parks the heads. I've seen it work. Don't recommend disabling unless your bolted down.
