nvsvc is part of the nvidia driver service. it is launched via the Run part of the registry, i can find no information in the inf, about that command being created under the Run key's, so it is not supposed to be there. the proper command to be issued with nvsvc is nvsvcstart. i can ascertain this as in xp drivers nvsvc32.exe is the nvidia driver service, Vista has better support for Running Dll's as an executed file. hence, the key listed in your task manager is not supposed to exist. only the following are supposed to exist KLM,"Software\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\Run",NvSvc,,"RUNDLL32.EXE %11%\\nvsvc.dll,nvsvcStart" and HKLM,"Software\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\Run",NvSvc,,"RUNDLL32.EXE %11%\\nvsvc.dll,nvsvcStart" i don't know why initialise would be showing up as all dll triggers are executed via command switches and in this sense, it would have to be added by either the inf during install, or by the nvidia control panel itself. i am yet to find out why the service would be modified by either anyhow.

Real file is safe and useless, viruses can pretend to be the file so therefore the threat. nvsvc.exe is a part of the graphic card drivers from NVIDIA. This is a non-essential process. Disabling or enabling it is down to user preference. "NvSvc" is not required to run at start up. NVIDIA Driver Helper Service - installed when you change from the WDM drivers to nVidia's latest versions but not required. Extreme shutdown delays can be encountered with this service active, but no adverse side effects with it disabled. NOTE: If using drivers other than nVidia's, such as Asus, this service may have been renamed to reflect that change. Some malware camouflage themselves as nvsvc.exe, particularly if they are located in c:\\windows or c:\\windows\\system32 folder. Thus check the nvsvc.exe process on your pc whether it is pest. File nvsvc.exe is located in the folder C:\\Windows\\System32 or sometimes in a subfolder of C:\\Windows\\System32 or in a subfolder of C:\\Windows. Known file sizes on Windows XP are 241664 bytes (42% of all occurrence), 97792 bytes, 237568 bytes, 184320 bytes, 249856 bytes. There is no file information. The file is not a Windows system file. The process uses ports to connect to LAN or Internet. The program has no visible window. File nvsvc.exe is located in the Windows folder, but it is not a Windows core file. nvsvc.exe is able to record inputs, hide itself, monitor applications. Therefore the technical security rating is 82% dangerous, however
