The genuine skdaemon.exe file is a software component of Enhanced Performance USB Keyboard Software by Lite-On Technology Corp.. "SkDaemon.exe" is a keyboard driver program (not the primary) in the multi-function keyboard software by Lite-On Technology Corporation, a Taiwanese OEM/ODM manufacturer of computer peripherals, (the world's largest OEM/ODM optical drive maker). Developed for Windows Vista, it enables programmable keys on the IBM Enhanced Performance USB Keyboard. (They stop working if it is removed.) It is said to slow system performance. To uninstall, use the Windows Control Panel and select "IBM Enhanced Performance USB Keyboard." (There is also an uninstaller program that uses the Microsoft Windows Installer (MSI).) If located in "C:\Program Files\Lenovo\Productivity Keyboard" it is safe; if found in "C:\Windows\System32" it is more likely to be disguised malware. Founded in Taiwan in 1975, Lite-On Technology Corporation was the surviving name of a 2002 Lite-On Group internal merger including GVC and Silitek. It has 20 wholly-owned subsidiaries and 38 manufacturing facilities worldwide.
