| i think i must have done something so now desktop.ini icon is exposed on my desktop. I have checked properties to make sure the HIDDEN box is checked. what can I do to make it hidden. also have destop.zip showing up on my desktop. i know i need to keep the files. can anyone help? | |||

| its just something thats always there, except, you can hide it Control Panel>Folder Options - put a checkmark in "Hide protected operatingsystem icons" (paraphrasing, exact language may be slightly different). | |||

| Desktop.ini is just a .txt file Windows uses to store individual folder settings. If you customise a certain folder with a new icon or style, this file will be created telling windows how it should display this folder from now on. If you delete this file, windows will show your folder as default. If you don't want this file in every folder, don't individually customise each folder. you can open it with a text editor if you are curious as to whats in it. | |||
