Drive letter access to a UDF packet writer for CD-RW - from HP, Veritas an others. Similar to Roxio's DirectCD and does the same thing. From HP - "This is a needed file as it controles the readability of the Combo drives. Without this file loading the end user will be able to burn CD's but wont be able to read them. The drive itself will be able to read store bought master Cd's without the file but not burnt ones"

Sorry guys, I'll have to disagree. I had disabled it for months now and I had been burning my CDs without any problem whatsoever. I feel that it is not a neccessity but a waste of space.

It's part of sonic solutions, safe to use but not sure if needed! some more info about DLA: Drive Letter Access (DLA) is an invaluable utility that lets you drag-and-drop files from your hard drive to your CD or DVD recorder as easily as you would to a floppy disk. DLA makes it simple to format discs and save files. And when you're ready, DLA's Make Compatible feature lets you share your discs with just about anyone.

It is an enormously useful program that I wish my other computers had. It lets me format CD-R (and not just RW) and back up my important data with a batch file. More information
